Founded by the resolution at the 4th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting in March 1971 in Manila, the Philippines requiring that all the ASEAN members’ Chambers of Commerce and Industry or equivalent be consolidated into ASEAN Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASEAN CCI). The Inaugural Meeting to prepare the organization took place in Jakarta, Indonesia during 19-20 in which Constitution of ASEAN CCI was finalized and made ASEAN CCI operational since then. Up to now 17 presidents led the organization starting off with Inaugural President, 1972-1973 Brig. General Sofjar (Indonesia). The 18th current President of ASEAN CCI is Mr. Santi Vilassakdanont of the Joint Standing Committee of Commerce, Industry and Banking of Thailand and the Federation of Thai Industries (2006-2008).
